Fugitive Real Estate Agent Arrested in New York
Written by Administrator on April 13th, 2010Jodi Lee Nazir, former Rancho Cucamonga, California real estate agent was located in Manhattan, New York and arrested on April 6, 2010, by US Marshals as a fugitive from justice, on an outstanding felony warrant for embezzlement of funds from her Rancho Cucamonga company’s Escrow Trust Account. Nazir will be held without bail in New York until extradition proceedings are completed. Nazir will then be transported back to San Bernardino County where she will be held on $1,500,000 bail until trial.
Nazir was a Real Estate Broker and Owner of RE/MAX Legends and Legacy Escrow (also known as Inland Empire Real Estate Solutions) in Rancho Cucamonga, California. She embezzled funds from the escrow trust account of Legacy Escrow in 2006 and 2007, before having her real estate license revoked and her business declaring bankruptcy. Nazir‘s actions caused buyers to lose earnest money place with Legacy Escrow, and agents to lose commissions, when the funds were not in the commission’s account. She also took agents’ commission checks and cashed them at a check cashing business rather than in the business bank account.
A search warrant and arrest warrant were served at Nazir‘s home in Rancho Cucamonga on March 16, 2010. She was not at the residence at the time of service, but was aware of the pending arrest. Nazir chose to avoid arrest by fleeing to New York and remaining there until she was arrested by the US Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force.
The search warrant service of Nazir‘s residence was aired on ABC channel 7 News. Since the broadcast, other several other criminal theft complaints have been reported to the San Bernardino County, California District Attorney’s office regarding Nazir. The new complaints are currently under investigation, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
